DISS THESES (Master Of Civil Engineering) -- University Of Delaware., 1966 Visco-elastic fluid behavior in pipes is studied and a semi-empirical method to predict entrance length and entrance pressure drop in laminar flow of non-Newtonian visco-elastic fluid in circular pipes is presented. Fluids are classified and power-law, bingham, refiner-philiproff, meter, and Eyring-powell models are described. Experimental equipments, materials and procedures, are described, experimental equipments, materials and procedures, are described, experimental results are analyzed, and laminar, transition, and turbulent flow characteristics, and correlation of these characteristics to easily-determinable physical properties are investigated. Calculated variables for established flow are analyzed and variations of pressure drop compared with water at same mean velocity are studied.
